Volunteer Drawing

Want to be entered in a drawing? During the field trip today, a volunteer gave us an idea for a contest. You will receive one entry per day that you volunteer during the KSL contest, Jan 21-27. You can also earn an entry by making this pledge to give one hour a month of volunteer time to your school. Pledge below and we will put a card with your name on it on our volunteer sign and you will have one free entry.
We already have 323 hours of volunteer time in the last two days.

Mascot Naming Contest!

We are excited to announce the upcoming arrival of Southland’s Sabertooth Mascot! To celebrate, the PTO would like to have a Mascot Naming Contest. Everyone at Southland is welcome to enter a name of their choice for our new Sabertooth Mascot.
Starting, Wednesday, January 15th we will make an announcement that will explain the Mascot Naming Contest. After the announcement, there will be a box located in the main office for everyone at Southland to enter their suggestions. We will have until Thursday, January 23rd at 3 p.m. to drop off entries in the ballot box located in the main office. After that we’ll tally up 6 of the top recommendations and have students vote for their favorite name.
As an extra Spirit Friday incentive, everyone wearing a Southland T-shirt or the color blue will get 2 votes that day!
We are so excited to reveal our newest addition to Southland and can’t wait to see his/her positive impact on our school.

Want a helicopter to land at Southland?

Let's show KSL that Southland has the best volunteers! For one week, Jan. 21-27, KSL is asking all elementary schools to document the hours parents and members of the community spend volunteering for their school. (This includes work done at home to assist a teacher or project at the school or babysitting for someone who is at the school). The school with the most volunteer hours will be treated to a SURPRISE ASSEMBLY. The assembly will include a visit by KSL-TV news anchor Nadine Wimmer who will arrive on Chopper 5, a pizza party for the school and live music. In addition, the winning school will be featured in a story on KSL-TV.

Make sure to record your hours in the Help Counter program, at the school or from home at:
Remember, the 6th grade field trip and Musical practice will count!
