Welcome To A New Year

Welcome back to a fabulous new year. We hope you all had a great summer and are excited to be back. Please bookmark this blog to find out about volunteer opportunities and activities at Southland Elementary.

This year the School Community Council and the PTO are co-sponsoring a new program called "Six for Southland." We are encouraging each family to donate six hours sometime during the school year to Southland. There are many opportunities, both in the classroom, with PTO activities and from home. To volunteer in the classroom helping with tests, papers, projects or parties please contact your student's teacher. To volunteer for the School Community Council please contact Shauna Eccles (sceccles(at)msn(dot)com). We are currently seeking a volunteer for the PTO newsletter and to co-chair the Boys and Girls' Maturation programs (held during the springtime). We also need help year around for different events such as Dads and Doughnuts, Green Ribbon Week, Science Club, Red Ribbon Week, Harmon's Days, Evening of the Arts and the Country Fair (held in May).

Southland PTO has a Facebook page. Please "like" us and follow us regularly to receive information about different opportunities and events at our school.

To help raise money for our school we are collecting Box Tops, Campbell's Soup labels, ink cartridges and Sunny D labels. Please send them to school with your student as you can.

We are looking forward to a fun new year. Please join us in our volunteer effort to make Southland a great place. The PTO meetings are the first Friday of each month at 9 a.m. in the faculty room. Everyone is welcome.
